we had a pretty serious flea infestation this year. i tried 3 types of flea drops on the cat, a collar. room spray, etc.. and we still had a flea problem. seemed they got worse. my cat is 20 yrs old and is so scared of water. i am afraid that if i bathe her now, she will have a heart attack. So i used a small Tupperware and put hot water and a cap of her flea shampoo in it. i began combing her coat and dipping the comb in the soapy water to kill the fleas before they hopped off. in the process of coming her, her entire coat became wet and soapy from dipping the comb. and after i finished, i just took her on the porch with a large cup of warm water and a towel and slowly rinsed her with the cup while distracting with treats. no fuss, no fight, and she was flea free for almost a week. i kept combining her daily without the flea shampoo and only pulled off 5 or so fleas a day after that till they were eventually gone from the house and the cat. the spray i used for the floor was natural cedar oil. it will kill them on contact, but they have to remain in contact with a decent amount for several seconds. It’s natural and harmless to pets, and it was a good fit for our home bedding and pet furnishings. i then put a sergants flea collar on her, and we sprayed around the house, under the porches and yard with a good, flea killing insecticide. the comb teeth will separate and leave a gap too big to get the fleas if you try to pick them out from between the teeth. so make sure u use a pan of water to dip the comb instead. when you have 5 or 6 fleas on the comb, they will just hop off and re infest the house unless you get them into something… like a pan of water. theres no possible way to just smash them before they end up everywhere.
