๐ก๏ธ Cold & Hot Weather Shipping
How do you handle cold weather shipments?
We have shipped thousands of boxes of plants in freezing weather with very few losses. However, no refund or return will be approved for plants damaged or killed by freezing weather. Please follow these guidelines to minimize risk:
- Order between Friday afternoon and Tuesday night to prevent your box from sitting over a weekend and allowing the heat pack to expire.
- Add a heat pack to your order if your plants will travel through freezing temperatures. Add multiple packs for larger orders.
- Make sure someone can receive the package at delivery. Plants left outside in freezing weather will not survive โ heat packs have limits.
- If you can’t receive the package, email us or add a note asking us to hold it for pickup at your local post office or UPS facility.
- Use express shipping in freezing conditions โ it’s next-day in most locations and dramatically reduces the risk of loss.
- Plan around extreme weather events (nor’easters, polar vortexes, etc.). If you can’t wait, use express shipping and/or hold for pickup.
- Do not select UPS Ground if it’s freezing where you live (CA, NV, AZ included).
What about hot weather shipping?
We offer ground shipping to 3-day-or-less destinations when the weather is not freezing. We don’t recommend ground shipping if your plants will travel through extreme heat โ please use it at your own risk.
โฑ๏ธ Processing & Shipping Time
Please allow up to 72 hours to process your order depending on when it was placed and how busy we are. Here’s what to expect by day:
| Day Order Placed | Typical Ship Day |
|---|---|
| Wednesday, Thursday, Friday (before 9AM PST) | Typically ships same day |
| Monday & Tuesday | Very busy โ same-day shipment is unlikely; allow up to 72 hours |
| Weekend | Processed next business day |
๐งฎ Shipping Calculator
Our shipping calculator provides an estimate only. Here’s what you should know:
- The calculator maxes out around $300โ$400 worth of plants and cannot accurately predict shipping for large plants or heavy items (shells, wood, concrete pots, etc.).
- If additional postage is required, we will invoice you for the difference via email after your order is placed.
- We always look for the most economical option (USPS Priority Mail or UPS Ground) and never charge more than our actual shipping cost.
- In the rare case our calculator overcharges you (e.g., you order all small/mini plants), we will credit the excess as store credit.
๐ Shipping Insurance
Tillandsias ship very well and we’ve had very few problems over the years. That said, we are not responsible for lost or damaged packages after they leave our facility.
| Service | Included Insurance |
|---|---|
| USPS Priority Mail | $50 included |
| USPS Express | $100 included |
